Our Story
Sleep Cheap, originally titled Mattress Outlet, was opened in 1994 by Gene and Kathy Kistner. From the very beginning, their mission was about more than selling mattresses — it was about serving the Bristol community. Through generosity, integrity, and a commitment to putting customers first, they built Sleep Cheap into a trusted Bristol staple. The Lord richly blessed their business, and they remained committed to fair, honest pricing every single day.
In May of 2023, Gene and Kathy passed the torch to Marty and Krista Greene. The Kistner's entrusted the business to the Greenes knowing they would continue the legacy of honest pricing, customer-first service, and giving back to the community.
Since taking over, Marty and Krista have been blessed beyond measure and credit all of their success to the Lord. In 2024, Sleep Cheap was honored as Best of the Best by the Bristol Herald Courier — a reflection of the continued support of this wonderful community.
Though retired, Gene and Kathy still stop by from time to time when passing through town — a reminder that while ownership may change, the heart of Sleep Cheap remains the same.
